Description

The Basic Police Sniper course is a 40 hour course with the purpose of training and certifying SWAT operators as sniper/spotter teams. This course is OPEN ENROLLMENT. Operators will be trained in the use of advanced observation and precision rifle fire to ensure the best possible outcome in a SWAT incident.

Live fire and range components will be held at various locations in and around Rockford and Rochelle Illinois.

Instructor Information: Matthew Gerard has 18 years of Law Enforcement background as well as 15 years on the local SWAT team and Sniper Team Leader for a regional SWAT team. Matt has training as a firearms instructor and NTOA Sniper Instructor.

Required Equipment

  • Precision rifle capable of 1 MOA or better (contact instructor with questions) NO HUNTING RIFLES
  • Small soft bag/ sand sock
  • 400 rds of match ammunition from the same lot
  • Data book
  • Hide construction materials (if available)
  • Ghillie suit (if available)
  • Tripod with saddle (if available)
  • Hide vehicle (if available)
  • Pack for equipment
  • Proper ear and eye protection
